Start The New Year With Gratitude

“Where your attention goes your energy flows” – if you want to attract more abundance into your life, you need to train yourself to see the opportunities that are all around you. Starting the year off with gratitude makes people happier, healthier, and less stressed.

As we enter a new year, I like to reflect back on the previous year to acknowledge the opportunities and appreciate the abundance that has graced my life.

As entrepreneurs, most of us are constantly  comparing ourselves to what’s going on in the market and with our competitors.

It’s easy to focus on what isn’t working or what we’re lacking. Click To Tweet

However, if you can’t appreciate what you already have, it’s very hard to see all the wonderful opportunities that are in front of you and take action to move your business forward.

In fact, practicing gratitude has been shown to improve health, self-esteem, and mental strength – which are all keys to success for business owners.

My Little Experiment – Gratitude Jar

Last year I started a gratitude jar to help me practice gratitude and cultivate mindfulness.

Every day I wrote down one thing that I was thankful for. Then I folded the piece of paper and put it in my gratitude jar.

On Jan 1, I dumped the contents of the entire jar and read the pieces of paper. I was filled with emotions, as I was reminded of all that I do have.

I want to take a moment to share some things to be thankful for.  Every little ounce of gratitude goes a long way, no matter how small. I hope you get some inspiration from them:

1. Heath

Be thankful for the health you do have.

After meeting so many people diagnosed with cancer or suffering health challenges, I am thankful for my good health. I started off the year with pneumonia but in the grand scheme of things, it could be worse, right?

2. Sunrises

There is nothing more beautiful than a Hawaii sunrise. Making time to experience something so simple yet beautiful can be a gorgeous start to your day.

3. Your Team

You can’t build your empire alone. Whether you have employees, a website developer, or a virtual assistant – you can’t be successful without them.

Lack of appreciation is the #1 reason an employee leaves a company. Click To Tweet Take some time to thank your team!

4. Your Partner

Your husband, wife, or life partner makes the world a better place. Plus, there’s nothing better than having the support of a loved one as you build the beauty business you love.

5. Family

No matter how crazy they are, how much they get on your nerves, or how infrequent you communicate – family is always there for you. Reach out and let them know that they matter.

6. Your Clients

You wouldn’t have a business without your clients.

Take time out to write little love notes to your clients and let them know how much you appreciate the fact that they have chosen you to help them feel beautiful, and pampered.

7. Fur Babies

If you know me, you know how much I love dogs. They make the world a better place. Period.

In fact, research has shown that owning a pet can help you live longer. Don’t forget to give your fur baby some thankful snuggles for their unconditional love.

8. Friends

We are social creatures and there’s nothing like having a good friend who believes in you and cheers you along in all that you do.

When I was younger, I used to think that having a bunch of friends was the ticket. As I grow older (and wiser,) I realize it’s all about the quality.

Make a coffee date and let your dear friends know how much you love and appreciate them.

9. Alone Time

We need alone time and a quiet space to keep innovation alive. Click To TweetThat time allows us to reflect and grow, especially in today’s noisy world where we’re expected to be always ON.

Embrace and cherish your alone time. Get to know yourself better to find your strengths so that you can continue to inspire others.

10. YOU

You matter. You’re a light. You have something valuable to give others. Click To Tweet

Don’t forget that. You deserve fulfillment and love. Don’t forget to love yourself.

Last But Not Least…

I want to thank you for being a part of my tribe… whether you’re new to follow or have known me for years.

If we’ve never had a conversation, I hope we do so this year. I love connecting with fellow estheticians and it is my mission to help cultivate the next generation of leaders in our beautiful industry.
